I have a 1993 Mitsubishi 3000gt and the TCU is located under the console / dash. It is mounted by a metal bracket to the floor pan. You will need to remove the side carpet panels and the entire front console to access the TCU.
The TCM is located behind the center console (same as eclipse, lazer talon).
A TCM (Transmission Control Module) from a 1995 Mitsubishi 3000GT may not be directly compatible with a 1992 model due to differences in wiring, programming, and software updates between the two model years. While they may share some similarities, it's essential to check the specific part numbers and compatibility before attempting a swap. It's advisable to consult a professional or refer to service manuals for both vehicles to ensure proper function and avoid potential issues.

A 96 GC has the TCM as an integral part of the PCM for both 6 and V8 models. On some earlier 6 cylinder Grand Cherokees, the TCM is separate and is bolted to the firewall; nuts to remove are next to the brake booster, under the hood, tho the TCM on these is inside the vehicle.

TCM Underground was created in 2006.
TCM Nordic was created in 1998.
On my 1995 it is under the the dash where the clutch would be located. It is chrome colored and has plugin visible. I am certain the 1992 is identical.
