Maybe hooking jumper cables backwards.
check the distributer cap
timing belt just replaced one today
answers are no where to be seen
I'm having the same problem. It's probably the pick-up sender in the distributer or the ignition module. Hope this helps you!

I have same problem, I clean out the ACI (air control Idle) throttle, also I change out air filter and it works fine. some other of my friends recommended change out the gas filter and gas pump hope it can help you :-)
Car had a faulty immobilizer that caused the problem.
bad plugs, wires, distributer if it has one, bad igniter, faulty wiring.....
THE CAM POSITION SENSOR IS PART OF THE DISTRIBUTER, AND CANNOT BE SERVICED
If it goes to hot after engine is shut down after driving that is normal. Coolant is not circulating at that point . If it goes top hot while driving that could be a problem Please clarify
