Replace the starter
Yes, the 1998 Infiniti I30 does have a starter relay. It's part of the starting system and is typically located in the engine compartment fuse box. The relay helps control the flow of electricity from the battery to the starter motor when you turn the ignition key. If you're experiencing starting issues, checking the relay could be a good troubleshooting step.
sounds like it might be a fuse blown check to make sure
The 1996 Infiniti I30 is equipped with a V6 engine, typically a 3.0-liter DOHC unit. A diagram of the motor would illustrate its key components, including the cylinder block, cylinder heads, intake and exhaust manifolds, timing belt, and accessory components like the alternator and power steering pump. Additionally, the diagram would show the placement of sensors and wiring harnesses essential for engine management. For a detailed visual, refer to a service manual or online resources specific to the 1996 Infiniti I30.

ktone answered this in the Nissan Forum: I had the light on for a year or so...but this worked for me. While the car is off, open the door, and turn the key to the on position and press the door side switch at LEAST 5 times within 7 seconds (personally, I just kept pushing the switch as many times as I could during 7 seconds) - After doing that, wait one second - Now move the key to the (1) position (between LOCK & Accessory)* *If this doesn't work, I offer this alternative that better conformed to my 1998 i30): The (1) position on my 1998 i30's ignition IS the LOCK position. So instead of stopping midway between LOCK and Accessory, and failing each time, I simply turned the key all the way to the (1) LOCK position. Once I stopped trying to go midway between LOCK and Accessory...it worked like a charm! - Close the door, move the key back to the LOCK position and then start the engine.
