Before you mess with the ignition system check fuses to make sure that your assumption is correct.
If it doens't work properly you have replace it. If you decided so before you start working around the wires you have disconnect the battery because of the safety bags. After that remove the panels plastic and metal one which are underneath the steering wheel. When you are done doing that you will be able to get access to ignition switch mounting screws. Remove all screws disconnect the wires. Connect wires in THE RIGHT PLACES to a new ifnition cylinder. Installation is reversed to removal.
