Starting a flooded RX-8 involves a few critical steps. First, ensure the ignition is off and then hold the accelerator pedal to the floor to allow excess fuel to clear from the engine. Turn the key to the "Start" position without pressing the accelerator for a few seconds, then release it. If it doesn't start, wait a few minutes and try again, repeating the process as necessary.
Press the gas pedal all the way and crank the engine over for 20 seconds. Then let go of the pedal and try starting. If it doesn't start, repeat the procedure. For badly flooded RX8 engines, there are detailed deflooding instructions here http://radderz.me.uk/2008/12/deflooding-rx8-engine-step-by-step-guide/
You can tell if your RX-8 engine is flooded if it has difficulty starting or if it emits a strong odor of gasoline. Additionally, if you hear excessive cranking without the engine catching, it may indicate flooding. Checking the spark plugs for excessive fuel deposits can also confirm flooding, as they may appear wet or sooty. If you suspect flooding, allowing the engine to sit for a while before attempting to restart can help clear the excess fuel.

The RX8 takes standard anti-freeze.
The RX8s have a big problem with that. The first step is to try starting it as if it was a flooded engine. You can look it up in your owners manual. Try starting it. If it fails, hold the gas pedal all the way in and then try and start it. Crank it for 10 seconds. Then let off the gas and turn the car off. WAit a second then try and start it. It should start. If not than you may have a bigger problem that Mazda is still trying to figure out (something with the imobilizer security system). Take it to a dealer.
