I believe that CR-V production from 2002 model year onward, have engines equipped with timing chains. CR-V's manufactutred prior to the 2002 model year are equipped with timing BELTS. I did NOT do any research on the Accord model line since the CR-V is based on the Civic platform. It can be assumed that the same information applies to the Ciivic model line as well. CAUTION: To be certain check with your local dealer.
Most Hondas do not have a timing chain. It is reported that the 2003 to 2007 models of Honda Accords have a timing chain, however.
4 cylinder 2003-2007 Honda Accords have timing chains. 6 cylinder 2003-2007 Honda Accords have timing belts.
According to Honda's website the standard Civic models did not start using a timing chain until 2006 with the exception of the SI models which were a different engine and have always had a timing chain. But PRIOR to 2006 all the other civic models had timing belts (which have to be replaced to be replaced periodically).
The 2015 Honda Accord V6 models are timing belts. The 4-cylinder version uses timing chain.
All Honda 4 cylinders from 2003 and up have a timing chain except the 2004 & 2005 Honda Civic which has a belt. 2006 and up Civic has a chain.
All Accords up to 2002 have a timing belt and they are all interference engines. From 2003 & up the 4 cylinder has a timing chain that requires no maintenance. All V6 Accords have a timing belt and they are interference engines.
It has a timing belt as do all 3 engine variances in the 98-02 Accords. Hope this helped. Peace
All 4 cylinder Honda Accords, model years 2003 and up have a chain that should last the life of the engine.
All Honda vehicles up to 2002. Starting in 2003 the 4 cylinder Accords have a chain and the all V6 Honda's still use the belt. The Civic used a belt up to 2004. After that it has a chain.
The V6 has a timing belt that MUST be changed every 105,000 miles.
The 2003 and 2004 Toyota Corolla has a timing chain. In my opinion, all car engines should have a chain and not a belt. Timing belts create the need for expensive belt replacements and can sometimes damage your engine if the belt breaks
No, the 2.4L 4-cylinder models do not--they have a chain,.The 3.5l V-6 models however do have a timing belt.
