The number one reason for a Honda oil leak is that the car is a Honda

This sounds facetious but it is true. The reason Hondas are cheap and reliable is because the engine is made with aluminum parts that fit together somewhat loosely while cold and slowly tighten when they heat up. All cars do this but the Honda keeps it looser so there is less stress on the engine after hundreds of thousands of mile.

There are some things you can do to mitigate most leaks, however.

Number one is to tighten all the bolts on the engine head and block.

If you want to get real frosty with it you can replace the gasket on the valve cover as this is the #1 spot that leaks.

Also be sure you aren't overfilling the oil, this will cause pressure which can damage gaskets and worsen any leaks.
