The oil sending unit on a 2002 wrx subaru is almost under the alternator. I suggest you remove the alternator and it is easier to remove the oil sending unit.

To determine if your WRX is a genuine STI, check for the EJ207 engine code, which is specific to the STI model. Look for the presence of a larger turbocharger, a front-mounted intercooler, and a unique intake manifold that differentiates it from the standard WRX. Additionally, authentic STIs often have specific engine components, like a different oil cooler and reinforced engine parts. Finally, verify the VIN and compare it to official STI specifications for confirmation.
The 2008 Subaru WRX typically requires about 5.1 quarts (approximately 4.8 liters) of engine oil for an oil change, including the oil filter. It's always a good idea to check the owner's manual for specific recommendations and to verify the exact amount needed based on your model's configuration.
I had shortblock replaced in my 2007 Impreza WRX STi and was charged $5.000 out the door including the cost of new shortblock. The whole engine consists of: -shortblock -heads (pair) -accessories (oil pump, gaskets, etc) They reused my heads since I had cracked piston (infamous 2007 STi issue) so the price included factory preassembled shortblock (~$1900) + gaskets +labor. Depending on the reason you want to replace your engine you might reuse some components.
Depends on the year, most people like to use the OEM extra s
