It's for the displacement not engine oil capacity , it's a 3 litre engine the oil pan could be any size, depending on it's size and shape. Lexus DOES NOT name their cars after the tank size. The IS/GS/ES/LS denotes the chassis and the number, i.e. 300, 250, 350, 400, 330 etc denotes the SIZE of the engine. I'm pretty sure Lexus put only ONE size oil pan on the 3.0L engine. BTW, the 3.0 is derived from the Supra inline six.
