On a 1991 Toyota MR2, the coolant temperature sensor is located on the engine block, near the thermostat housing. It is typically situated on the left side of the engine, towards the rear. To access it, you may need to remove some components or carefully maneuver around the engine bay. Always consult a repair manual for specific details related to your vehicle.

On my '91 it's below the thermostat.
no sensor only a thermostat
The themostat is located in the top rad hose on the engine side, but I don't know about the sensor. In my 91 the coolant temp sensor is in the thermostat housing and the engine temp sensor is on the block.
That would be the electrical switch right beside the thermostst housing and is screewed into the intake manifold.
On the intake manifold.
