ok here we go.it is not really a super hard job.but without the right equipment and in you driveway it will likely take you between 4 & 6 hrs to replace it. location is on the passenger side about mid way down the engine.if you look in this area you will see 3 different fan belts the one closest to the engine itself is the belt that controls the Power Steering pump,crankshaft,and the water pump. the pully up near the center of the engine is the water pump.to do this repair you must remove all 3 belt and likely the timing belt cover.if you plan to do the replacement you need a manual and not me. advance auto sells a haynes manual for $18.00 its not as good as my chilton but it will help you alot.........hope this help you.........buddy mack
The 2002 Nissan Maxima water pump is located on the front of the engine. You can follow the top radiator hose directly to the water pump.

It is located inside the timing cover housing , It is located inside the timing cover housing ,
the water pump is in the middle of the timing cover the crank pulley and timing cover has to come off
The thermostat is located inside of the top water hose inlet. Remove the top hose, then the inlet to remove the thermostat.
water pump is located under timing belt cover! change it when you change the belt.

The water pump is in behind your timing cover.
The water pump is located in between the timing belt, behind the timing belt cover, very close to the thermostat, just follow the large hose from the radiator to the thermostat on the left side of the motor facing it, good luck.
It is at the lower end of the top radiator hose within the water outlet. I hope this helps you. Mark In the engine end of the upper rad hose.
