on top of the water pump housing
Depends, which engine is in the 85, 13b or 12a?
the temp gauge will run ot then cool that is when the thermostat is opening again
follow the top rad hose one end goes in rad the other in the thermostat housing
phone me 604 649 8449.
on the 13b engine it should be behind the waterpump, just below the thermostat.
Bad head gasket? Bad thermostat? Defective radiator cap?
right next to the thermometer
Dot 3 brake fluid is an acceptable fluid to use. It is the standard clutch fluid for most vehicles.
There is what Yamaha calls a thermostatic valve. According to the service manual it is behind the horn underneath the fuel tank. The housing which holds the thermostat is on the end of the hose attached to the thermostat.
Go here: http://www.wankel.net/~krwright/cars/rx7/85_manual.html It is a complete factory service manual for the 85 RX7, i don't have the Haynes manual for comparison but i did find the diagrams to be easy enough to use on my 84 (even though a few here and there were scanned poorly). Hope it helps, Sincerely, a fellow first gen owner Go here: http://www.wankel.net/~krwright/cars/rx7/85_manual.html It is a complete factory service manual for the 85 RX7, i don't have the Haynes manual for comparison but i did find the diagrams to be easy enough to use on my 84 (even though a few here and there were scanned poorly).
