The lope or surge in a Toyota 22RE engine after replacing the head could be due to several factors, including incorrect valve timing or adjustments that affect the air-fuel mixture. If the timing is off, it can lead to poor performance during acceleration while still allowing for a smooth idle. Additionally, vacuum leaks or issues with fuel delivery could also contribute to this problem, as they may disrupt the engine's ability to respond properly under load. Checking these components is essential for resolving the issue.
Replace the Idle Air Control Valve only about $50. This would cause funny idling and stalling out.
It can affect the way the engine idles, the pistons fire, or the acceleration behavior. If the engine is revved up it may cause misfiring, motor vibration or backfires. Accelerating might be hesitant, and engine shaking during engine idle might happen.
valve cover was leaking slightly before the power loss, and the engine has 140,000 miles on it.
Hey ya i have a 1994 grand am and i was having this same problem. What i did what replace the spark plugs. After i did this i took the car and and when i floor it no longer stutters when accelerating.
that is a computer problem you will need the proper reader for it and that is about 4000 so just take it in it is only about 40-60 dollars and they will tune it right
Acceleration Cable broken broken, you dump!
Did you manually clear the codes ?
check fuel pressure while accelerating if it drops replace fuel filter. these filter are small and clog fast if there is more then 20k miles on filter its clogged. if pressure check for codes and go from there
Adjust the idle screw.
whats the first step on repairing my 1993 Toyota truck 22re with a high idling problem thanks Brian
Just happened to me too, 3 year battery was 3 years and 3 m. old, tightened the alt. belt that helped but still idles at about 600 rpm. Ran well before the battery went,
zyou tps might be bad
