ok this sounds like a tranny cable wire - on your throttle body their is a plastic piece that holds the cable on the throttle that probably fell out -put a metal clip to hold the wire and if you can make sure the wire is set right to shift the tranny DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR YOU WILL FRY THE TRANSMISSION!
This happened to my car and I lost my overdrive gear and the shop said i would probably lose my other gears but i have been driving about 200 miles ever couple weeks for 3 or 4 months now with no problems
yes it does you don't need to be in 2nd gear anyways in a crown Victoria yes it does you don't need to be in 2nd gear anyways in a crown Victoria yes it does you don't need to be in 2nd gear anyways in a crown Victoria
Check fuse for brake switch, check switch, or light control module,
how to replace shifter tube
Hit the button on the end of shift lever, which takes it out of overdrive.
Check the shifter lock-out on the brake pedal. also check all the fuses.
Usually with this model, the shifter is protected by the brake pedal. If the sensor on the pedal is faulty, you might not get it out of park. Check this first.
I assume that is the button that allows you to turn off or turn on the overdrive for the transmission ( my Ford Explorer also has a button on the end of the gear shift lever for that purpose )
Not sure of what you are asking, but I will try. On the shift selector there is an R,N,D,2,1. If you are down in the 1 position, this is first gear the lowest gear you have, and some autos will not up shift at all when not in the D selection. In 1 the engine rpm's will climb very quickly, but the speed will not, until you choose a higher gear.
check the sensor on the brake pedal.
This answer may be obvious - Try pressing and holding the brake pedal down before attempting to shift out of Park. Hope this helps! Radioman
The safety neutral switch on a 1994 Crown Victoria LX is located on the transmission. Specifically, it is mounted on the driver's side of the transmission case, near the shift linkage. This switch ensures that the vehicle can only be started in the "Park" or "Neutral" positions. To access it, you may need to lift the car and remove any necessary underbody components for better visibility.
if it doesnt shift into gears smoothly or at all. rev. is the first to go in most cases.
