The vehcile has three drive belts which have likely stretched over time and are now slipping. Of the three, the alternator drive belt is the likely culprit. Locate the alternator drive belt (it's the belt that extends from the alternator and goes furthest to the left of the engine). The alternator drive belt has three pulleys: The middle pulley (idler pulley) can be adjusted to tighten the drive belt. Loosen (but do not remove!) the idler pully bolt. Place a pry bar between the left pulley and the idler pully and push down forcing the idler pulley up. While maintaining downward pressure on the pry bar, tighten the idler pulley nut. If the squeal remains, perform this task on the other two pulleys.
NOTE: If you notice the squeal more when you turn on the headlights, it's probably coming from your alternator belt. If the the noise is greater when you turn on your heat/air conditioning, it's likely one of the other two.
If it STILL squeals after this, it is in fact a sheared bolt (#1) to the manifold. This will allow exhaust gases to escape. It will possibly need skimming too at the manifold end to cure. Good luck.
When refilling the oil some may have dripped onto the belt which would cause it to start slipping badly and squealing loudly.
check a/c compressor and belt.
Start with the most likely andeasiest to fix. Check your brake pads... There is a wear indicator on the inside pads (closest to engine) that will rub on the rotor and make a squealing noise to warn you that the pads are getting thin. When you apply the brakes the noise will go away a lot of the time. If the pads are new or not making the noise then I do not know what the problem may be.
It sounds like the fan-belt is slipping.
Sounds like it is time for new brake pads, you should take it in and and have them replaced before you damage your rotors. I think --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Most likely you have a caliper that is not releasing. I am replacing both calipers and pads tomorrow on my 1997 B2300 SE. My right caliper would squeal until I touched the break pedal but start squealing again. I drove it this way for 6 mos. till the pads were gone.
possibly a bad brake...you should get all brakes done
Water in the drums or on the pads.
If that's the extent of the complaint, check the serpentine belt and tensioner.
i would take a good guess that when the starter is engaged through the sylenoid that it is sticking and when you go to shut it off it stays engaged
Power Steering pump my have a leak...
the cv axle wasnt completely tightened causing the hub bearing to go out
metal, right? Sounds like metal, yes.
