To pull diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) from a 1991 Toyota Previa, locate the diagnostic connector under the dashboard, usually near the driver's side. Use a jumper wire to connect terminals TE1 and E1 on the connector. Then, turn the ignition key to the "ON" position (without starting the engine) and watch the check engine light; it will blink in a specific pattern to indicate the trouble codes. Count the blinks to interpret the codes, which can be referenced in a repair manual or online for further diagnosis.
Read the manual, but I believe it says when the cruise light blinks there is an error with the cruise control and should be checked. I have had mine blink before and then the next time I used it, it was fine.
It means there's some fault code. Narrowing it down, you'd need to check to see what code it flashes at you. Key in the on position, diagnostic or cruise control switch on, hold your Set-Accel/Hold-Deccel switch and count the blinks on the check engine light... it should blink a three digit code at you... the number of times the check engine light blinks is the number, then a pause, then it blinks another number, then a pause, then it blinks another number.
Loose wire or bad connection to light.
change the bulb out for the brake light and that fixes the problem.
There isn't a jumper terminal, you cycle key on, off, on, off, on and count the blinks.
under hood look for diagnostic box with a little lid remove the lid get a wire jump E1 and TE1 with the wire and then turn your key to accessories. count the flashes, how to count flash example 7 blinks close together in time then 1-2 sec pause then 2 blinks would be code 72. there will be a longer pause 5 secs or so between codes. Good luck
Normally there is 2 gallons left in the tank.
Just found it myself. Short the top two on the right side. Have the ignition turned to "on" and then do it. You get X number of blinks, a pause, then more blinks. Mine was 1 -pause- 2. 12 for me!
To check OBD1 codes for a 1986 Toyota Cressida, first locate the diagnostic connector, which is typically found near the driver's side under the dashboard. Use a jumper wire to connect terminals TE1 and E1 on the connector. Turn the ignition to the "ON" position (do not start the engine), and the check engine light will blink the trouble codes in a sequence. Count the blinks to identify the codes, and refer to a service manual for their meanings.
