More than likely a timing belt Problem
if it backfires when driving most crank sensors cause this
Check the firing order. Maybe it got mixed up in the process. The firing order is clockwise 1, 8, 4, 3, 6, 5, 7, 2. Also check the inside of the distributor cap and rotor for carbon tracking.
Isuzu part number 8-97258-523-0(MSRP $193.86) crank sensor is on the right side(passenger) of the engine block, just behind the mount.
fuel pump relay? If it will not crank it has nothing to do with the fuel pump. You need to check the starter system.

on a1990 Isuzu 2.6 and 2.3 I thing you mean the main bearing caps for the crankshaft 72.3 (+ or -) 7.2 lb-ft
On the 3.2 l it's on the passenger side right under the exhaust manifold.
One (1) each on the cam and crank gears and on the outer timing case.
Truck will crank sometimes but will always turnover , done replaced disturber and cap , coil pack , and ignition wire harness, but u can roll off truck and will crank
Cams will point straight up to match marks on housing and crank will be at about 1 o'clock where mark on crank pulley will line up with mark on oil pump casing
If its a 3.0 td model the crank sensor is situated on the o/s in the engine casing , its accesible from underneath with a long extension and a 10mm socket
