Plug wire was loose 350 in 83 Chevy truckmotor backfired then quit and now it will crank then backfires but wont start?

Check the firing order. Maybe it got mixed up in the process. The firing order is clockwise 1, 8, 4, 3, 6, 5, 7, 2. Also check the inside of the distributor cap and rotor for carbon tracking.
