If you mean actually walked on the moon, there have been 12 : two each from six NASA missions as part of the Apollo program.

24 astronauts have traveled to the moon in total, some of them twice, and some on missions which only orbited or went around the moon. On July 20, 1969, US astronauts Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin landed on the moon. Armstrong was the first human to set foot on the lunar surface. Five additional landings were made from 1970 to 1972 (the last manned exploration there). (see related question)

If by "traveled to" you mean "walked on", 12.

If you include those who only orbited the moon and didn't land, add another 15 (three from Apollo 8, three from Apollo 10, three from Apollo 13, and 1 from each of the missions where someone did land).

Twelve of the astronauts walked on the Moon's surface, and six of those drove Lunar Roving Vehicles on the Moon. While three astronauts flew to the Moon twice, none of them landed on the Moon more than once. The nine Apollo missions to the Moon occurred between December 1968 and December 1972.
