Yes, the Apollo 18 mission was canceled. Some People refer to the Apollo Soyuz Test Project as Apollo 18, but the original plans for 18 were canceled
"Apollo 18" was released on September 2, 2011 in the United States. The film is a science fiction horror movie based on a fictional premise of a cancelled Apollo mission to the moon.
There was no Apollo 18 (the movie is fiction). The last Apollo mission to fly to the moon was Apollo 17. The final flight of Apollo hardware was the Apollo Soyuz Test Project (ASTP) flown in 1973, which never left Low Earth Orbit.
Apollo 18, 19, and 20 were canceled due to budget constraints and a shift in focus towards the Space Shuttle program. These missions were originally planned to continue lunar exploration following the success of the previous Apollo missions.
After the lunar landing of Apollo 11 in 1969, nine more lunar missions were planned. But in 1970, Apollo missions 18, 19, and 20 were cancelled. It is said that Apollo 18 was supposed land near the lunar south pole, which is shown in the movie.
As soon as NASA landed on the moon back in 1969, the general public started getting less and less interested in space exploration. The logic behind the thinking was that they have beaten the Russians to the moon, why continue to invest money into the program? Not long after the first moon landing of Apollo 11, congress started cutting at NASAs budget and cancelled Apollo 18-to 21. This is just a comment but they acually sent Apollo 18 to the moon and it never returned!
Apollo 18 was cancelled in 1970.
Apollo 18 was cancelled to free one Saturn V to launch Skylab and to cut costs
The Apollo program was originally meant to run up to Apollo 40, by which time there would be a permanent base on the Moon. However this was changed early on and the missions cut back to Apollo 21. The final mission was subsequently cancelled. Apollo 20 was then cancelled in January 1970 and Apollo's 18 and 19 were cancelled in September the same year.
Apollo 18 was never launched. Apollo missions 18, 19 and 20 were planned but cancelled to cut costs and also to free one Saturn V rocket to launch Skylab. The final Apollo mission was Apollo 17, which was launched on the 7th of December, 1972.

so what appears to happen was that these two men of Apollo 18 seem to have come across some unfriendly aliens. Until one of them gets scratched by an alien and dies, but after the other man looked at him the spirit of the alien took over the dead mans body the other one get freaked out and leaves the missing flag, dead man and the horrifying alien APOLLO 18
No, the Apollo Program was cancelled after the final moon landing (Apollo 17) in December 1972.
There were three Apollo lunar landing missions (18, 19 and 20) that were planned, but never completely funded. In particular, there was no funding available to build the additional Saturn V rockets that would have been needed. On September 2, 1970, NASA announced that those missions had been cancelled. The last Saturn V was used to launch Skylab.
