No, the first astronauts to the moon did not read from the Bible during their mission. During the Apollo 11 mission, astronaut Buzz Aldrin privately took communion on the lunar surface, but it was not a formal part of the mission or broadcasted publicly.
So far, there have been no African-Americans on the moon. (Mae Jemison was the first African American WOMAN in space. Guy Bluford, Jr. was the first African American in space.)Well, if you consider that, genetically, we all came from Africa, and all the astronauts were American, then that would be Neil Armstrong.......
The plaque left on the moon by Apollo 11 astronauts in July 1969 contained a message that read: "Here men from the planet Earth first set foot upon the Moon July 1969, A.D. We came in peace for all mankind." The plaque also displayed images of Earth and the signatures of President Richard Nixon and the Apollo 11 astronauts.

Neil Armstrong followed minutes later by Buzz Aldrin were the first to walk on the surface of the moon, which they did in July, 1969. Since then, approximately 10 others, all from the U.S. have done so. To be more grammatically correct, your question should read: "Has anyone ever gone to the moon?" My answer did not include those astronauts and cosmonauts who journeyed to the moon, or orbited it, without physically walking on the surface.
You can buy the book for a kindle, if you have it. You can buy it at the book store, but unfortunately you can't read it online. You can read the first chapter but that's about it. Sorry.
The Apollo astronauts left the flags behind. I read that at least one flag was seen to fall over as the LM lifted off, but the rest are probably still vertical, except that the flag itself would be so much powder after all these years of lunar heating and cooling.
Just one that I know of: Charlie Duke, from Apollo 16. Jim Lovell from Apollo 13 is left handed, and he was supposed to walk on the moon, but of course that mission was aborted. I read on a 'left handed site' somewhere that 4 of the 12 men who actually walked on the Moon were left handed.
New Moon book - if you don't know the storyline, you can't fully understand everything. Also, New Moon is really good.
