How did NASA get its funding?

On October 1st, 1958 the United States Congress formed NASA, which stands for National Aeronautical and Space Administration. NASA replaced NACA . The National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) was a U.S. federal agency founded on March 3, 1915 to undertake, promote, and institutionalize aeronautical research. On October 1, 1958 the agency was dissolved, and its assets and personnel transferred to the newly created National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). NACA was pronounced as individual letters, rather than as an acronym. NASA was borne out of United States concerns following the Russian (then USSR) launch and orbit of the first artificial satellite, Sputnik 1. Sputnik 1, launched by the Soviet Union on 4 October 1957. This triggered the Space Race between the Soviet Union and the United States. The reason there was a race for space is due to the vast military dominance associated with holding the high ground during a battle. Whoever controlled outer space held the highest ground possible. NASA's budget is reviewed and administered annually by the the United States Congress. (Added text concerning NACA and Sputnick 1 was taken from Wikipedia.)

When was the first NASA satellite launched into space?

NASA became the US civilian space agency as the successor to NACA (National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics) on October 1, 1958. The earliest US satellites were launched by the military, such as the US Army's Ballistic Missile Agency (Explorer I, January 31, 1958) and the US Navy's Project Vanguard (Vanguard I, March 17, 1958). NASA was involved in a string of unsuccessful launch attempts, notably the Beacon series. Its first success was with the Navy's Vanguard 2 on February 17, 1959 (this satellite is still orbiting the Earth), and NASA continued the Explorer series with Explorer 7 on October 13, 1959.

What is used to enclosed numbers or letters in a series?

A pair of parentheses is used to "enclose" numbers or letters in a series or elsewhere when enclosure is useful to understand the meaning. However, to separate the items in a series, only a comma and space after each item is needed, along with a conjunction to close the series. Examples: 1, 1, 2, and 3 are the first four numbers of a Fibonacci series; paragraphs (A), (B)(2), and (D) are the most relevant ones for this discussion.

Does the series 1 divided by ln x converge?

Compare a series to a known series. So take the harmonic series {1/1 + 1/2 + 1/3 + ... + 1/n}, which diverges.For each number n [n>1], LN(n) < n, so 1/(LN(n)) > 1/n. So since each term in 1/LN(n) is greater than each term in the divergent series {1/n}, then the series 1/LN(n) diverges.
