I don't think there's a specific term for it; one word for a point of this nature in general is a "cusp," and the astronomical term for the general region of the end would be "limb" (this applies to a larger region than just the point at the end, though).

What are crescent moon ends?

HORNSThe crescent moon end is called the Horn. It's all part of the Moon; the crescent ends are the last lit-up area of the moon. At the crescent, most of the illuminated area of the moon is the other side of the Moon, facing away. The remainder of the side of the Moon that we can see is dark.

How does the crescent phase that precedes the new moon differ from the crescent phase that follows the new moon?

A waning crescent is the phase in which the visible (illuminated) Moon is shrinking, leading to a New Moon (all dark). The open end of the crescent is facing away from the rising sun.A waxing crescent is the phase following a New Moon during which more of the visible face is being illuminated, leading toward a Full Moon. The open end of the crescent is facing away from the setting sun.(These directions do not vary by hemisphere as do the conventions of left and right.)

What makes the moon look like a ghostly galleon?

its a metaphor comparing a ghostly ship floating on the clouds as the sea. It's most accurate when the moon is not quite half full and still a crescent. If you rotate the image so the horns of the crescent point up, the moon looks like the side view of a boat with a very curved hull. Galleons of the 15th-16th century had very curved hulls, with high "castles" on either end, bow and stern. So the crescent moon has a shape like the hull of a galleon. You have to imagine the masts, yardarms and sails. If you see the crescent moon on a night that's partly cloudy and the clouds are blowing across the moon, you'll see the effect.

What does a red crescent moon mean?

A red crescent moon, as shown in Revaluations, is religiously a sign of the end of the world. However, it can be scientifically explained! A red moon is typically closer to the ground fr your point of view the closer to the ground it is the more close it is to the actual Earth. Therefore, the crud in the Ozone (which is a ring) is showing more than it would than if it was up high! So pick which one you like most and comment how you feel.

How long will you see a new moon after seeing a crescent?

One or two days after the new moon, go outside and look west at sunset. The razor-thin crescent moon is sometimes called "Diana's Bow", because Diana the Huntress was the goddess of the Moon, and it looks somewhat like a bow bent almost double. Walt Disney used this theme at the end of the Beethoven's 6th Symphony element in Fantasia.

How often does the moon go through an entire set phases?

Every month. One month, give or take is when the moon goes through its full cycle. From new moon to [waxing crescent] to first quarter (week one) then to [waxing gibbous] to full moon (week two) then to [waning gibbous] to third quarter (week three) to [waning crescent] and finally by the end of the fourth week, new moon again.

What moon phase is it when the right half of the moon is illuminated?

There are two phases of the moon that appear to be a half disk: the first quarter and the third quarter. The entire cycle of moon phases takes about 28 days (27.3217 days). Counting the day of a new moon as the first day, then the phases in order are: • waxing crescent • first quarter (a half lit moon resembling the letter "D") at end of week one • waxing gibbous • full at end of week two • waning gibbous • third quarter (a half lit moon resembling the letter "C") at end of week three • waning crescent • and back to the new moon, completing the cycle after week four
