In April of 1981, US astronauts Crippen and Young returned to earth in the space shuttle Columbia which used wings to get them home, but the Columbia and all other space shuttles were launched with rocket power. A winged orbital spacecraft to take off and land by itself was canceled because it was too expensive, but it may someday happen.
The first successful flight into space and back was achieved by Yuri Gagarin, a Soviet cosmonaut, on April 12, 1961. Gagarin orbited the Earth once aboard the Vostok 1 spacecraft before safely landing. His historic mission marked a significant milestone in human space exploration.
John Glenn returned to Earth from space on February 20, 1962, after completing the first orbital flight by an American astronaut on the Friendship 7 spacecraft.
Yuri Gagarin became the first human to travel to space and orbit the Earth on April 12, 1961. Before him, only dogs had been sent to space. Gagarin's historic flight marked a significant milestone in space exploration and the advancement of human spaceflight capabilities.
John Glenn's flight in 1962 made him the first American to orbit the Earth, while Alan Shepard's flight in 1961 was a suborbital flight, meaning he went up and came straight back down. Glenn's flight lasted longer and was more complex than Shepard's.

i really honestly do not know this question because I am still looking for it! lol (:
The first winged flight into outer space and back was conducted by the Space Shuttle Columbia during the STS-1 mission, which launched on April 12, 1981. This mission marked the inaugural flight of NASA's Space Shuttle program, successfully demonstrating the shuttle's capability to reach low Earth orbit and return safely to Earth. The shuttle's unique design allowed for controlled reentry and landing like an airplane.
The first space shuttle mission was the flight of Space Shuttle Columbia. It launched on 12 April 1981 and returned safely two days later. The two-man crew comprised commander John W. Young and pilot Robert Crippen.

One WA designed in South America circa l909 but is not known if it reached flight testing stage. still it was a Delta and was honored on a stamp a few years back by the country of issue.

Approach and Landing Tests were performed aboard by Space Shuttle Enterprise by Commander Fred W. Haise, Jr and pilot Commander. Enterprise is a test vehicle with the same flight characteristics as other orbiters though not equipped for space flight. The first landing after a space flight of a shuttle was STS-1 with commander John W. Young and pilot Robert Crippen at the controls landing at the Edwards Air Force Base in California.
