Or if the world stopped moving all together. There are many answers. If the world stopped spinning but still revolved around the sun then we would have seasons like we do now, but we would either have light or day for 6 months each. It would take a lot of adapting to. So if the world stopped moving all together. Then we wouldn't have seasons. We would either have light or darkness for the rest of our lives, and we would either be in the unbareable cold or the blistering heat.

If the core of the Earth had stopped spinning, then we would all die. Let me explain how we would all be killed. First, minor things will happen, EMP's would occur, frying electronics worldwide. After that, it would take months of slow destruction. Slowly and slowly, the Earth Electromagnetic Field would deteriorate. Now I am now Geologist, but I do know that this actually protects us from massive waves of particles and microwaves shot from the sun in all directions, known as "Solar Flares". With that gone the Solar Flares will roast everything, and there will be absolutely no chance any life on Earth will exist again. So, it is best to thank our Earth for all the wonderful benefits that it is giving us. As that we do not have the technology for getting everyone off the Earth and to a more safe place. With the rate technology is advancing, we could possibly start it withing the next 100-300 years. I am not sure of this completely, but as you know, this process can take thousands to millions of years. And by then, I am sure we would have the technology to escape. So right now, we are fine. if the world stopped spinning, one half of the earth would always be in complete darkness while the other half will always have sunlight. we might also move out of orbit. the rotation keeps us going in the same direction, its like a curve ball. it curs in a cirlce if u were to throw it fast enough. but if the world stopped spinning it would be like a knuckle ball and move all over thace, thus, bringing us closer to the sun or father away, causing either extremely hot weather or freezing cold weather, most likely whiping out all living creatures

Hmm, i assume you mean what would happen if the earth didn't rotate on its axis, since your question could also be taken as "what would happen if the earth didn't orbit the sun." Now, if the Earth didn't rotate there would be no magnetic field, this is because this field is generated by the difference in the rotation speeds of the Earth and its core. Without this field the Earth would have no protection against the solar winds/flares which would basically microwave the surface of the Earth. Besides that, with out rotation you would see no seasons since the seasons depend on both rotation of the Earth and its orbit. There would be months inbetween dawn and dusk instead of just hours. And many other things besides.

Now, what would happen if the Earth didnt orbit the sun. Basically, without the orbit to counterbalence the gravity of the sun the earth would sink into it and burn up. NEXT!
