Diamonds -- as are all natural minerals -- are as old as Mother Earth. All continents except Europe and Antarctica -- so far -- have been identified as sources for diamonds.

Since diamonds have been part of human history for about 6,000 years, it's not possible to identify exactly which human in which location first picked up a shiny rock that was identified as a diamond.
