Hyacinthus, who was loved by both Apollo and Zephyros; when Apollo threw the disk, it was Zephyros who caused it to kill the boy. Apollo then transformed the dying youth into a larkspur flower (hyakinthos in Greek) which he inscribed with the wail of mourning "AI, AI."
There are many legends about Apollo. But one of my favourites is the story of Hyacinthus. Hyacinthus was a golden boy who was loved by two gods. Apollo and Zephyrus, the god of the west wind. The two were constantly jealous if Hyacinthus spent time with the other. One day Hyacinthus was playing discus with Apollo, and Zephyrus grew jealous. So, when Apollo threw the discus, Zephyrus sent a great gust of wind that blew the discus off course. Back in those days, the disucs' were made of bronze and were very sharp. The discus went hurtling towards Hyacinthus and buried itself in his chest. Apollo ran to him and wept, but no matter how hard he tried, he could not bring him back to life. Apollo transformed Hyacinthus into a flower, that blooms in early spring, and dies in summer, as if killed by the sun and then blooms in spring once again. And that's how the Hyacinth flower came to be.
Zeus didn't try to kill Apollo. Apollo lives on Olympus as the god of sun, young men and music, with his sister Artemis. Besides, all the Greek gods were supposed to be immortal, so they can't be killed.

In Greek mythology, Apollo was said to be in love with Hyacinth, a handsome Spartan prince. However, their relationship was tragically cut short when Hyacinth died in a tragic accident. Apollo mourned his loss deeply and turned Hyacinth's spilled blood into a flower that now bears his name.
Apollo lost a son to his taking the cart to ride across the sky. He killed Hyacinth with a discus by accident. He did not use good judgement at times.Apollo was very unkind to women that spurned his advances. He cursed Sibyl of Cumae with eternal life but not eternal youth. Apollo had his sister kill Coronus for falling in love with Ischys. So jealousy was a problem. He had a temper problem because he was angry he looked at a crow and turned its feathers black.
Apollo accidently killed Hyacinth with a discus.
In Greek mythology, Apollo was killed while practicing discus throwing with one of his lovers, Hyacinth. A jealous Zephyrus (god of the west wind) blew his discus off course and it struck Apollo in the head, instantly killing him. By the way, the word DIE has no "Y". It was Hyacinth that got killed by the discus not Apollo. Apollo being a god was immortal.
Hyacinth chose Apollo over the wind god Zephyrus. While trowing a discus with Apollo, Zephyrus blew on it while it was flying back to Hyacinth. The discus struck Hyacinth and he died. Apollo out of love did not let Hades take his body but instead turned him into a flower.
Hyakinthos was a Greek youth that Apollo and Zephyr were throwing a discus. Zephyr was jealous that Apollo paid too much attention to Hyakinthos so he killed him with a discus blow to the head. Apollo created the flower out of the blood of Hyakinthos.
no, apollo was/is devine/immortal
No, Zeus did not kill Apollo, nor did he attempt to. Besides, Apollo is immortal and cannot be killed. Apollo's son the god of doctors was killed by Zeus.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for or not but . . . a discus which caused Hyacinth's death, which was thrown by Apollo himself. From Hayacinthos' blood sprang the Hyacinth flower which bears his name.
Hyacinth was a Spartan young man who was learning discus from Apollo and Zephyr. Zephyr was jealous of the attention that Apollo paid to the young man so he made the wind hit Hyacinth in the head. Apollo used the blood of Hyacinth and turned him into a flower.
He shot the arrow to kill him.
