Days are longer in the Arctic only between the vernal equinox (March 21) and the autumnal equinox (September 22). At other times the days are shorter than elsewhere.

Between those dates the north pole is tilted towards the Sun by various amounts, with a maximum of 23.4 degrees on June 21. That means that the area round the north pole is always in sunlight. The area extends as far south as the Arctic Circle on June 21, and people there can see the Midnight Sun. The majority of people in this area live in northern Norway but there are others in Canada, Greenland, Sweden, Finland and Russia as well as Alaska, USA.

Does the polar zone have longer days or nights during the summer?

Above each of the circles -- Arctic and Antarctic -- in the polar zones, there is at least one 24-hour period without a sunset during the summer season (which is opposite in each zone). So while one polar zone is enjoying longer days, the other is experiencing no sunrises, so there, the nights are longer.
