If we are to one day travel to the stars, we have to understand the effects of prolonged exposure to different conditions, so what they do is they perform all kinds of experiments in zero gravity:- how do insects behave, how do plants grow, will hydroponics work to supply air. This is better done close to home then to be half way to another planet.

We are a long way from Star Trek but we have to reach out.

On a side note I will put a link to show you what i mean about adapting to zero G its an interesting article and will answer more than i have. Its not just about Spiders

What space stations are in orbit?

Some notable space stations currently in orbit include the International Space Station (ISS), Tiangong Space Station (China), and Mir-2 (Russia). These space stations are used for scientific research, international cooperation, and testing technologies for future space missions.

When were space stations invented?

The concept of space stations dates back to the early 20th century, with the first successful space station being Salyut 1, launched by the Soviet Union in 1971. Since then, numerous space stations have been launched and continue to be utilized for scientific research and space exploration.

What are moons and international space stations examples of?

Moons are natural satellites that orbit planets, such as Earth's Moon, while international space stations are artificial structures in space where astronauts live and work, such as the International Space Station (ISS). Both moons and space stations play key roles in space exploration and scientific research.

What are the roles of space shuttles and space stations and what features do space probes have in common?

NASA has used space shuttles to perform many important tasks. These include taking satellites into orbit, repairing damaged satellites, and carrying astronauts and equipment to and from space stations. A space station provides a place where long-term observations and experiments can be carried out in space. Each space probe has a power system to produce electricity, a communication system to send and receive signals, and scientific instruments to collect data and perform experiments.

What are space stations used for?

Space stations are used for conducting scientific research in microgravity, testing technologies for long-duration space travel, and providing a platform for international collaboration in space exploration. They also serve as living quarters for astronauts to work and reside in space for extended periods of time.

How can you compare and contrast rockets satellite and space stations?

Space stations are manned vehicles used for scientific research. Satellites are unmanned robotic vehicles for scientific research.

What are facts about space stations?

If there never had been space probes astronomers couldn't have landed on the moon. The very first space probes were used to study earth from outer space. The space probe was the reason how astronemers found out that venus was very hot. I gave 3

How will space stations help in the exploration of space?

Space stations can help in the exploration of space because in space stations they do experiments on things they find in space.

What was the purpose of Chris Hadfield traveling to the Mir?

Chris Hadfield is on the International Space Station, not the Mir space station. Those two space stations are not the same. The reason he is there is to conduct space related research.

How space stations aids in space exploration?

space stations help aid in space by doing test and experiments thx

What is the difference between space shuttles and space stations?

Space shuttles are reusable spacecraft designed to transport astronauts and cargo to and from space, as well as perform various tasks like deploying satellites or conducting scientific experiments. Space stations, on the other hand, are large habitats in space where astronauts live and work for extended periods, conducting research and experiments in a microgravity environment. Space shuttles are typically smaller and have a specific mission duration, while space stations are larger and serve as long-term platforms for scientific research and international cooperation.

What are 3 tasks a space shuttle can perform?

NASA has used space shuttles to perform many important tasks. These include taking satellites into orbit, repairing damaged satellites, and carrying astronauts and equipment to and from space stations.
