The stars are further away, and so they appear smaller.

The sun is actually a star. The sun is just closer to the earth then any other star.

The further away the earth is the smaller stuff looks. like when your in a airplane and you are high in the sky when you look down every thing looks smaller than it actully is. It is just like this.

Are stars smaller than the sun or the moon?

Yes and no. This question is almost impossible to answer. Stars that you see in the night sky are not as small as they appear. The reason the sun and the moon look larger is because they are closer to our planet. Some of the stars in the night sky could actually be 2x, 10, 100x, or even 1000x the size of our sun, or they could be as small as our planet.

Why do stars look smaller than your moon when in fact they are much bigger?

Because they are much farther away. The farther away something is the smaller it looks.
