Sunnykiwi: heck yes my iPod has never failed me yet. its like my little pocket buddy
jjpjimmy: Compared to the available media players, ipods are the most simple to use thus they are the most technically simplified. Other competing companies are Cowon, Archos, Scandisk, Creative, Microsoft, and many other companies. All of which have innovations that Apple products will never consider or have taken ideas from.
Are they good compared to the other companies? By the end of the day, not at all. Low battery life than the other media players available. Low sound quality, however improved in the newest Ipod nano, Low Sound output power and the mandatory iTunes, although that is avoidable.
If you're considering buying an Ipod then look into other products. However remember that all companies have their ups and DOwns. Cowon, Korea based, for example has a very good reputation for Sound Quality and Battery life along with an extensive list of supported codecs. Yet their User Interface has been very primitive though out their players. It has gotten better with the COWON s9.
As a side note, I had an Ipod Mini 1st gen and 2nd gen which i have rockboxed to get the most out of them, such as being free from iTunes. They were a pain in the ass because even after a battery replacement, it would only operate for a maxiumum 8 hours. And on rockbox, that's nearly a miracle. When i got my Cowon S9, i was blown away at the massive battery life of nearly 3 days of music. Now i can turn on the DSP, Digital sound processor, and take advantage of what they've provided me.
No, it's not bad.
Yes it is.

I have an iPod touch and when I delete applications the memory that it uses comes back. I used my iPod touch to type this.
The gtkpod software (See links below) is widely used for using an iPod with a Linux system.

Cookies are never bad.
dont know about ipod but with phones it is
no it is not only if you want cool things on your ipod
make sure that your stero is compatible with the ipod you have. if not, then you ipod may be to old of a generation it sounds like either the connection on the iPod has gone bad or the cable/wire you used to connect the iPod to the stereo is bad. If you have a friend with a similar iPod, ask them to try and connect it to your stereo the way you connect your iPod. If it works, it's likely a problem with your iPod. If not try replacing the cable/connector.
Yes .. Because you are allowing a virus into your iPod and it allows your iPod to be slow.
Using the bluetooth on an iPod does take more battery life out of your iPod, so only keep it on if you have a bluetooth connection to the iPod.
