There are many reasons why GarageBand might be crashing.
- First of all, you should make sure you have installed all the latest updates from Apple via Software. This will also update all of the iLife apps.
- If you are using an external USB or Firewire audio interface, there may be a problem with the driver. Check with the manufacturer for driver updates, or try running Garageband without the interface with Built-in audio and see if it crashes.
- Make sure you are not running other applications that may interfere with Garageband (ie. file sharing, VOIP, anti-virus software)
