The 'Sky+ HD' Box gives the subscriber the opportunity to receive certain 'High Definition' and '3D' TV channels through their HD and 3D TV. 'HIgh Definition' TV channels are said to have a superior quality over normal TV channels.
Yes, if you want channels beyond "basic cable". In my area that means anything above channel 100, including HD and premium channels.
In order to watch digital channels one needs to first purchase a digital set top receiver box. These are relatively cheap nowadays and won't set you back more than $50 for a standard unit.

Satellite is better. comparable in price, never goes out & has more channels total available & they give you the box free in many case.
Contact the manufacturer or refer to the user manual for instructions on recovering channels on the FTA-500 box.
you can record (with a standard sky plus box with standard installation) 2 programs at once, as long as you either have one of the channels that are being recorded on (you could still watch terrestrial of freeview though), or are watching something you previously recorded. e.g. you could record sky sports 1, and sky sports 2 at the same time, leave one of the channels on so you can record both at once and switch to terrestrial or freeview bbc1.
Most people currently have television that do not have antennas because it was required the you get a booster box to pick up certain channels. Howevere, they're are still people that do use antennas.
