Over the past 30 years, the whole world has had the pleasure of being able to view top quality entertainment from the comfort of their living rooms. The very first form of home viewing for films came in the form of a VHS (video home system) tape, which was played on the television through a VCR (video cassette recorder). In the beginning, this form of entertainment was all the rage, and it was considered to be innovative, cutting edge technology. Nowadays, people have no trouble with figuring out how to set up their VCR’s. However, when these machines were relatively new, people had to learn what was then considered to be a complex process by some. The very first VCR’s were bulky and heavy, and the cords that came with them (albeit few) proved to be daunting during assembly.

However, setting up the VCR is rather simple. The machine comes with three jacks, all of which are color coded. The audio jack is white, the picture one is yellow and the red jack can be used alternatively to replace the white one. It is just a matter of hooking up the cords into the correct stations and being able to follow basic instructions (you should be able to hook up this machine with or without a manual). The same can be said for DVD players and the most recently introduced entertainment device, which is called the BluRay player. For the DVD player, you have the same basic setup as with the original VCR devices. It comes with the three standard color jacks and, of course, the plug cord. Hooking it up as as simple as matching the colors to their corresponding stations and, as previously mentioned, harnessing a bit of common sense to figure out what goes where.

Nevertheless, BluRay players are a bit more complicated than any previous VCR’s and DVD players. This is because the BluRay player is an advanced piece of technology that contains more highly developed equipment. Therefore, the machine’s hook up process is a bit more complex, but not terribly different. While the BluRay comes with the standard audio/picture jacks, it also comes with an HDMI port and cord. The HDMI feature is what distinguishes this machine from any previous entertainment devices, ensuring crisp and jawdropping visuals. If you follow your manual’s instructions closely, you’ll have your BluRay player up and running in no time!

If you already have a Netflix account, you just need to enter your account information on the BluRay player's Netflix menu. If you don't have an account already, you will need to set one up on your computer so that you can get the account information that the BluRay player needs.

Can you play a Blu-ray player on a regular tv?

Yes you can. Virtually all Bluray players have an analog output which is standard definition. This can be connected to the video input of any television and you will see a standard definition image from a Bluray disc. The quality won't be as good as is on the disc of course but at least the disc will play. It is normally possible to set up the HDMI connector to output a standard definition signal. This is probably not of much use as almost all televisions that have HDMI inputs will also accept high definition signals. It might also be worth pointing out that standard DVDs will also play on a Bluray player. Using the analog output from the player with a standard DVD playing will give the same quality of image as any standard DVD player.

How can you increase the output of sound from a video DVD recording?

Does playstation 3 play Blu-ray movies?

Yes it is one of it's features and it also plays DVDs and upgrades them to the level of your HDTV and Connection. Of course nothing can play a Disc in 1080 P if your HDTV and Connection are set up for 480I or 720p. That means if you have a 1080P HDTV connected with an HDMI cable you can play blue ray disc movies and games

Why is my HDMI hookup not looking like high def?

HDMI is a cable interface and does not in itself produce high definition signals. That is the case for any and all HDMI cables, regardless of the cost. To get an HD quality image, you must first get an HD source. Bluray players are HD but they will only produce HD quality if a Bluray disc is being played. Playing an SD DVD in a Bluray Player does not produce HD quality. That is the case even if the image is up-scaled to an HD format. Likewise, playing a DVD in a regular DVD player does not deliver HD quality even if the DVD player up-scales the signal to an HD format. If the source is an HD one, it is worth checking the settings to make sure it is set up to output HD rather than SD. Some models can be set to output only SD signals. Also, make sure the television itself is HD. There are a small number of "HD ready" televisions that will accept an HD signal but will reduce the resolution to suit its own low resolution screen.
