Mark Twain born as Samuel Langhorne Clemens was born in Florida, Missouri on Nov 30, 1835 to a Tennessee merchant John Marshall Clemens, and Jane Lampton Clemens, as the sixth of seven children. He lost his father when he was 11 years old. In the same year he became AA printer's apprentice and later he got a job as a typesetter in 1851 for the Hannibal Journal, a newspaper which was owned by his brother. Later he left Hannibal to work as a printer in New York City, Philadelphia, St. Louis and Cincinnati at age 18.
