Can Huckleberry Finn read or write?

The book begins "You don't know about me without you have read a book by the name of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, but that ain't no matter. That book was made by Mr. Mark Twain and he told the truth, mainly."

If Huck Finn wrote his own book (as Mark Twain pretends he does) then Huck must have been able to read and write. Mark Twain has Huck write in dialect, with a few minor grammar problems, to hint that he isn't well educated. But Huck must have been educated well enough; he "wrote" a good book, after all!
YES HE CAN! It says that when his dad first gets mad at him for being more educated than his parents.
