Medea and Jason initially treated each other with love and devotion, as Medea helped Jason in his quest for the Golden Fleece. However, after Jason's betrayal, Medea's actions towards him included revenge and betrayal. Jason's treatment of Medea was characterized by deceit and abandonment.
Jason wanted to get the golden fleece which was in a garden protected by a dragon who never slept. Medea was the princess of that country, and was also a sorceress. The king of that country, Medea's father, said Jason could have the fleece if tied to fire-breathing oxen to a yoke and used them to plow a field. He had to plant the dragon teeth in the soil, and as soon as the teeth were planted, a crop of armed men would spring up and turn upon the planter of the tooth. Medea gave him charms that allowed him to not be burnt by the oxen and made the armed men turn on each other. The king did not think Jason would succeed in the challenge and of course didn't give the golden fleece. He decided to kill Jason and his men that night. Medea warned Jason and took him to the grove of the sleepless dragon. There she sang a lullaby and used a potion to make the dragon fall asleep. thanks to Medea, Jason was able to get the golden fleece.

Ariadne and Medea are both figures from Greek mythology known for their intelligence and resourcefulness. Each plays a crucial role in aiding a hero: Ariadne helps Theseus escape the Minotaur's labyrinth with her thread, while Medea assists Jason in his quest for the Golden Fleece through her magical abilities. Both women challenge traditional gender roles by taking bold actions that significantly impact their respective narratives. Their stories also explore themes of love, betrayal, and the consequences of their choices.
In "Jason and the Argonauts," several archetypes are prominently featured. Jason embodies the Hero archetype, embarking on a quest for the Golden Fleece to reclaim his rightful throne. Medea represents the Femme Fatale, using her cunning and magical abilities to aid Jason while also posing a threat. The Argonauts themselves serve as loyal Companions, each with unique skills that contribute to the group's success, while figures like King Pelias represent the Tyrant archetype, opposing Jason's quest.
