At the end of the story, I feel sympathetic towards Laurence Yep's father. Despite his initial disapproval and strictness, he shows care and understanding towards his son's passion for writing, which shows a shift in his character and a deeper connection with Laurence.
So his mother and father would feel sorry for him.

In the story "Father Wakes Up the Village," the father feels frustrated and disheartened by the lack of appreciation for the small village tradesmen. He believes they are essential to the community but are often overlooked or taken for granted by the villagers.
