Verne is the founding father of Science Fiction. He also wrote some adventure stories which are not strictly speaking science fiction but some do deal with advanced present technology. Verne predicted the second moon of Neptune, not confirmed until l949! He also posited a secondary moon for earth and has this natural satelolite play a role in one of his moon novels. (there is not such moonlet!) It is a good thing that his works are currently seeing a cinematic revival (Journey to the center of the Earth) One week area was life forms- in his (Outside) sci-fi. He did not get into any discussion of extra-terrestrial life forms, either animal-like or intelligent leaving this work to later authors. the idea of an extraterrestial animal with external spines acting as a sort of heat-exchanger was discussed by pioneer science fiction writers, as was the popular idea of Giant Insects, Praying Mantises the size of cranes, for example./ Verne did not get into this.-By accident some other writers of his era did get into (Exo-zoology) and somehow he gets indirect credit. anyhow Jules Verne is the Grand Old Man of science fiction.
