The slaves and other non-white characters are shown as being just people. Huck and Jim's quest to find Jim's family that had been sold "down the River" stabs your heart, not because he's black but because he is a father and a husband. The concern about language and "N-words" are smokescreen reasons for banning a book that promotes humanity.
