His mother died when he was just 2 years old, his dad never cared to be in his life, his foster mother died an unstated illness. His young wife Virginia, his first cousin died after suffering from tuberculosis for several years. His foster parents both died while he was alive. Frances Allan on February 28, 1829. John Allan on March27, 1834 (although Poe did not get along with his foster father). Poe's brother, William Henry Leonard Poe died on August 1, 1832. It seemed like everywhere he turned another one of his family members died. He was never able to lead a normal life.
