Writing annotations is different for every person. Annotating is going to be generally the same, but will be done to best suit each person using the method. Annotating is most often used in order to a have a quick point of future refrence. You can point out literary elements or write questions that you might later like to have answered. Writing your own perception of certain elements or characters is also often done. Even things that fascinate or perplex you may be noted. Colored pencils, highlighter, sticky notes, and note tabs are some options for tools to help you annotate.
