I honestly think it is a great mistake to ascribe any religious significance to Anne Frank.

She was jewish, and it was the time when Hitler and the Nazis were doing horrible, horrible things to the Jews.

True, but the Nazis persecuted Jews for racial, not religious reasons. Converts from Judaism to Christianity and their children were treated in the same way. Anyway, the fact that she had a religion does make give her 'religious significance'. Surely, nobody is suggesting that she was a saint.
