It's estimated that Poe wrote his first full poem called "O, Tempore! O, Mores!" around 1825, but it was never published during his lifetime. He wrote bits and pieces of verse before that, but that is thought to be his first full writing.
Edgar Allan Poe began writing in West Point, Virginia as an editor. He started writing as an editor in 1836. However, he wrote words on a tombstone ("The requiem for the loveliest dead that ever died so young.") in 1835.
