Shia Muslims are a sect of Islam who believe that leadership should have been passed down through the Prophet Muhammad's lineage. They follow a different set of religious practices and have a distinct understanding of Islamic history compared to Sunni Muslims. Shia Islam is the second largest branch of Islam, after Sunni Islam.
