Where did you grow up?
I spent my youth between Gainesville Texas and lake Texhoma. A great amount of time was exploring trails ,fishing holes from the oldtimers and boating.
When did you start painting?
Back in the early 70s I would get in trouble doodling during class,daydreaming was a pastime as if I were watching a movie.The first painting I sold for five dollars then used the money for bubble gum and gas for my boat.Gas would last almost a month.
Art Teachers?
I didn't know any back in those days of youth. I spent a lot of time playing with a variety of clay in all sorts of colors from the lake. In later years I found John Held,Ray Johnson,Shozo Shimmato and Carlo Pittore. One could call them Dadaists,later I found myself on stage at the Dallas Museum of Art with Held and Shozo,that's when I knew where that drum was playing.
I follow their insight even today. They are inspiring . They speak without spoken words.
If you had a dinner who would you invite?
Lee Miller,Modigliani,Picasso,Chagall,Maxwell,Joyce and Kiki.Id laugh at Sigmond and James
as they throw bread at each other.Sigmond wasnt invited but it was a good show.Id drule over Chagalls wife of course.Id drink like Liani the first day,dinner would last a month.Today Id have over Demi Moore,Lee and Vanna Lacy,Theo,Chambers,Micky Rooney,Ann Cole,Freeman and alot of the Venice Bunch and their friends from NY. We would be in Spain somewhere.
Where do you show work?
I don't,I do have galleries that have work, In L.A. and Oklahoma they see a lot of people.I tend to show up still wearing Pjs at five in the morning the days of a show but no one is there.
I see online paintings from the early 80s from time to time.Unknown who sales them.
If you didn't paint what would you do in the arts?
Act,make dresses,write more,play music.
I heard you wrote a Opera?
Yes about a thousand pages long.I store it in a box and forgot to number the pages,a year ago the box fell down a flight of stairs I have yet to open it since.
