Tim Symonds is an author of Sherlock Holmes adventures. He was born in London. He grew up in Somerset, Dorset and the Channel Island of Guernsey. His uncle was Elleston Trevor, author 'The Flight of the Phoenix', The Quiller Memorandum' etc.

After several years in the Highlands of Kenya and along the Zambezi River and two years in Canada he emigrated to the United States. He studied at the University of California, Los Angeles, graduating Phi Beta Kappa in Political Science.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.

His latest Sherlock Holmes novel, 'Sherlock Holmes And The Sword of Osman' (2015) was written in a converted oast house near Rudyard Kipling's old home, Bateman's in the English county of East Sussex, and completed on Gavdos, a remote island in the Libyan Sea, off Crete.

Other detective novels by the author include 'Sherlock Holmes And The Mystery of Einstein's Daughter', 'Sherlock Holmes and The Case of the Bulgarian Codex', and 'Sherlock Holmes and The Dead Boer at Scotney Castle'.

His next novel sees Holmes and Watson travelling to Peking in 1906 as the Qing Empire comes towards its sticky end.
