They sailed to their colony of Jamaica and set their aim on the city of New Orleans.As an aside, Napoleon did not want the British to assault New Orleans when they owned it just prior to selling the city and the rest of their Louisiana Territory in 1803. Napoleon knew his fleet could not prevent the British from capturing the city. Therefore, he believed that if the Americans owned it, it was far better than having the British take it.
