The firing order for the 1979 Jeep CJ-5, which typically features either the 232 or 258 cubic inch inline-six engine, is 1-5-3-6-2-4. The cylinder numbering starts from the front of the engine, with cylinder 1 being the frontmost on the driver's side. The distributor rotates clockwise, and the ignition wires should be connected in accordance with this firing order for proper engine function.
