This is an electrical problem that happens with a lot of Caprice classics with digital spedometers. My speedometer works about 1 day out of the month and the will cut off the other 30 days.
Your speedometer may have failed, or the speedometer cable that connects to the transmission, or the plastic gear in the transmission may be broken.
Nothing
relay
check the speed sensor.not sure where it is on that particular vehicle
check the vss located on the tailshaft of the transmission for the speedometer issue the odometer is figured out based on the speedometer also so it will quit as well. this sounds like either the sensor is bad or a short in the wire from it The cord for the speedometer came undone from the transmission or the gauge cluster is bad
check the vehicle speed sensor buffer located buy the computer look under and behind the glovebox
In a 1996 Chevy, the speedometer is located on the dashboard, within the instrument cluster directly in front of the driver. It is usually positioned behind the steering wheel, along with other gauges such as the fuel gauge and tachometer. The speedometer displays the vehicle's speed in both miles per hour (MPH) and kilometers per hour (KPH).
Magnets are very important when driving your car. First of all, they're involved with your speedometer, tachometer, galvonometer (fuel gauge), and all the other gauges on your dash boards.
do you mean your car won't display your car speed ? is that what you mean ? check the speedometer cable on your car. check the speed sensor located at the end of the speedometer cable. check the plastic gear inserted on the transmission at the end the speedometer cable. get a qualified technician who can work on your car.. it may require the instrument panel (gauges assy) be remove to unplug the other end of the cable..if cable type is used. some vehicles use wire and sensor.. if so, no need to remove gauges, just check sensor and the gears inserted to transmission.
This often refers to a dashboard instrument panel that houses 4 large gauges. Usually two of the gauges will be Speedometer and Tachometer. The other two may some combination of Engine oil pressure, Engine Temperature, Intake vacuum, Alternator/Battery voltage, Fuel pressure, Clock, etc.
